Staff, governors and pupils welcome you to our Stadhampton School website. We hope that these pages will give you an insight into our school.
At Stadhampton School we recognise how special your child is to you and, naturally you want the best for him/her. Our intention is to make every child’s first years in school as pleasurable and educational as possible. These ‘primary’ years of childhood are very important; it is during this time that the foundations of individual self-esteem, physical, social and emotional development, which are so important in the early stages of child development, are formed and fostered, ready to build on in the years ahead. It is also a time during which the seeds of positive approaches to learning, good behaviour, standards and respect are sown.
We have 4 classes; a dedicated Foundation Stage (Reception) class, known as ‘Ladybirds’, which enables our youngest pupils to learn and develop in a classroom environment specifically tailored to their needs. Our Key Stage 1 (Yr 1 and Yr 2) pupils are taught together in Class 1, while lower KS2 pupils (Yr 3 and Yr 4) are taught in Class 2 and upper KS2 pupils (Yr 5 and Yr 6) are taught in Class 3. We offer an integrated curriculum, with topic areas in the humanities and arts, especially, linking with our Literacy text where possible. As we have two year-groups in our KS1 and KS2 classes, we operate a rolling two-year programme with regards to class topics although pupils’ individual targets and objectives will be in line with national age-related expectations. Our standards are high; we pride ourselves in the quality of the education we are able to provide at Stadhampton School and are delighted that Ofsted has consistently judged us to be a ‘good school’ (please see our Ofsted report, June 2017, below).
We aim to provide a stimulating environment, which will motivate all children in our school to learn and share the joys that learning can bring. We firmly believe that ‘learning in school is also learning for life’ and we challenge our pupils to ‘work hard, aim high and have fun’.
We embrace modern technology and have interactive whiteboards, laptops and tablets available in each class (partially funded by our active, generous and much-appreciated PTA) and these add an extra dimension to the teaching and learning that takes place in school. We also value the importance of other aspects of learning and are proud to offer ‘Forest School’ sessions to all our pupils. Forest School sessions usually take place off site, on the land of a generous local landowner by agreement, and provide opportunities for children to develop; initiative, resilience and resourcefulness, teamwork, perseverance and determination, improved physical health from spending time outdoors, problem-solving skills and learning to take risks, improved physical coordination, and how to offer and accept help (emotional intelligence).
As well as embracing innovation, we also promote traditional values and endeavour to foster and maintain a caring, happy and supportive environment in which every child can feel secure and valued as an individual. In turn, we hope that you will support our efforts by taking a keen interest in the life of the school and in your child’s progress. Should you have any concerns please do not hesitate to contact the class teacher in the first instance, preferably after school when the teacher will have more time to address your concerns.
As Headteacher of Stadhampton School it is important to me that you and your child/children feel that you belong to our school community and that you are as proud as I am that this is your school.
