Headteacher Welcome

Staff, governors and pupils welcome you to the new Stadhampton Primary School website. We hope that these pages will give you an insight into our school.

At Stadhampton School we recognise how special your child is to you and, naturally, you want the best for him/her. Our intention is to make every child’s first years in school as pleasurable and educational as possible. These ‘primary’ years of childhood are very important; it is during this time that the seeds of good behaviour, standards and respect are sown. We wish to build on the hard work already applied by you and previous educational establishments.

An exciting recent development, from January 2010, is the addition of a dedicated Foundation Stage class. This enables Foundation Stage pupils to learn and develop in a classroom environment specifically tailored to their needs. Our Key Stage 1 pupils are taught in Class 1 and our Key Stage 2 pupils are taught in Classes 2 and 3.

We aim to provide a stimulating environment, which will motivate all children in our school to learn and share the joys that learning can bring. We firmly believe that ‘learning in school is also learning for life’. We pride ourselves in the quality of the education we are able to provide at Stadhampton School and it is particularly appropriate here to emphasise that we understand that ICT (Information Communication Technology) forms an intrinsic part in this education.

The Internet has become fundamental to the way that businesses, including schools, are run and to the way that people live their lives. The Internet offers many exciting opportunities for teaching and learning. At Stadhampton School we work hard to ensure that all pupils have a good understanding of ICT. Each class has its own dedicated computer area and an IWB (Interactive Whiteboard). All classroom computers were replaced in 2007 – a considerable financial investment supported generously by our PTA (Parent Teacher Association) to whom we are very grateful. Additionally, we have recently added a laptop trolley to our resources, providing a flexible facility enabling a whole class at a time to simultaneously access ICT. We are currently developing our use of the Oxfordshire Learning Platform, a virtual learning environment, to further pupils’ engagement with ICT and enhance school-home communication.

We also promote traditional values and endeavour to foster and maintain a caring, happy environment in which every child can feel secure and valued as an individual. In turn, we hope you will support our efforts by taking a keen interest in the life of the school and in your child’s progress. Should you have any concerns please do not hesitate to contact the class teacher or myself. You are welcome at any time, although sometimes it may be necessary to make an appointment and it is best to speak with teachers at the end of the day when they do not have children in their care.

As Headteacher of Stadhampton School I want you and your child/children to feel that you belong to our school community and that you are as proud as I am that this is your school.
