Little Musketeer's Fencing Workshop

Exciting Fencing Workshop Inspires Our Young Learners

Children in our Dragonfly, Hedgehog and Otter classes enjoyed a fantastic fencing workshop in school this morning, delivered by James and Andrew Beevers from Little Musketeers.

James Beevers is a third-generation fencer who followed in the footsteps of his father, mother and grandfather, all of whom competed at international and Olympic level. He began fencing at the age of eight and went on to achieve remarkable success in the sport. During his career, James won every British national title and became a four-time Senior British Champion. He also represented Great Britain at 14 World and European Championships and was a member of Team GB at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.

After retiring from competitive fencing in 2009, James founded the highly successful Little Musketeers fencing programme. The programme now works with over 350 schools across the UK, introducing thousands of children each week to the exciting sport of fencing.

As a father of two young children, James has carefully designed the Little Musketeers activities to support executive function skills and whole-child development, while providing a fun and engaging introduction to fencing.

Our pupils had a brilliant time learning the basics of this unique sport, practising their coordination, focus and teamwork in a lively and supportive session. It was wonderful to see so many smiles as the children tried something new and built their confidence.

We are delighted to be welcoming Little Musketeers back soon as we launch our new after-school fencing club, and we look forward to seeing even more of our pupils develop their fencing skills in the coming weeks. ⚔️
